“Welcome” Series with Chris Higginson
As followers of Jesus, we are called to cultivate a kingdom mindset where we show extravagant hospitality, not just to each other, but particularly to the stranger, the foreigner, the vulnerable, to those who are unfamiliar to us and unlike us. In the words of Henri Nouwen, we want to learn to “create space for strangers”.
Both Old and New Testaments have much to say about hospitality. The New Testament instruction is essentially the same as what’s taught in the Old Testament, but takes on a much more profound meaning as we think about hospitality in light of the Cross.
“Spiritual Heartburn” series with Chris Higginson
In Spiritual Heartburn we’re hoping to learn how to see the Old Testament through a Jesus-lens, because Jesus Himself says the whole thing is actually about Him. By learning to see Jesus in the Old Testament we want to experience what the 2 disciples walking to Emmaus experienced after Jesus pointed out to them all the things about Himself in the writings of Moses and the prophets. “Were not our hearts burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scripture to us?” (Luke 24:32)
